Quebec men among those arrested in Ontario auto theft probe

Halton police say they have disrupted two auto theft networks linked to vehicle thefts in Halton and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, with four men arrested in separate investigations.
In one case, investigators said two Montreal men were arrested after a Lexus SUV was stolen from the Bronte GO Station parking lot in April. Police allege the suspects were connected to a Quebecbased crime group and were seen stealing or trying to steal vehicles in Oakville and Mississauga. Both men face multiple theft and propertyrelated charges, and police said one was already wanted on other warrants in Ontario and Quebec.
A second investigation, known as Project Disconnect, focused on thefts from hotel parking lots in Oakville. Police said two more suspects were arrested on May 27 after an attempted vehicle theft, and they face dozens of charges. Officers recovered a stolen vehicle and tools used to reprogram vehicles and break into them. Halton police said the cases may be linked to more thefts, and the investigation is continuing.
