Rogers cuts 230 jobs and closes radio stations in four Canadian cities

Rogers Sports & Media is closing six radio stations in Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax and Kitchener as part of a broader restructuring. The company said the decision affects 230 jobs, including 80 in radio.
The closures include News 1130 and Sportsnet 650 in Vancouver, 660 NewsRadio Calgary and Sportsnet 960 in Alberta, as well as NewsRadio Halifax and NewsRadio Kitchener. Rogers said the move follows a review of its radio business and reflects declining audience and revenue trends.
The company said it will continue operating 44 radio stations in nearly 30 communities across Canada and will shift radio production for Canucks games to another Rogersowned station.
