Tether says it had limited exposure to bank tied to $84 million seizure

Tether exposure to EQIBank stayed tiny after a DOJ account freeze See how the $84M seizure may affect Tether, Bitfinex, and USDT confidence

Tether said its exposure to a bank linked to a U.S. asset seizure was limited after prosecutors froze about $84 million in accounts connected to a Montana payments business. According to the report, the Department of Justice alleged that the business, Capstone, moved funds on behalf of Tether and Bitfinex under the direction of EQIBank. Tether said it had no knowledge of the alleged conduct and confirmed it was a customer of EQIBank, but said its holdings at the bank accounted for just 0.034% of the group’s total assets. The company did not comment on whether the seizure could affect customers. The article noted that USDT’s market capitalization was about $184 billion on Friday.
