Anduril CEO Brian Schimpf spoke with CNBC’s Arjun Kharpal on The Tech Download podcast about the defense startup’s approach to artificial intelligence, autonomous weapons and production scaleup.
Schimpf said Anduril’s view of autonomous systems is centered on human supervision, arguing that AI should support military decisionmaking rather than replace it. He pointed to existing weapons systems that can identify targets with limited human input as examples of autonomy already in use.
He also described Anduril’s manufacturing strategy, which aims to combine more inhouse design with commercial supply chains and faster production methods. The company recently signed a Pentagon deal to supply 1,000 missiles, a contract that will require it to expand output quickly.
