Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected in Toronto

Toronto storm warning: heavy rain, strong winds, and hail threaten southern Ontario Track alerts now to stay safe as flooding and 110 km/h gusts move in

Toronto and much of southern Ontario are facing heavy rain, strong winds, and the risk of hail as a storm system moves through the region on Tuesday. Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of the area, with wind gusts forecast between 90 and 110 km/h. The agency also warned that some places could receive more than 50 mm of rain if multiple thunderstorms pass over the same area. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority said the rainfall could raise water levels and increase flooding risk in rivers and streams, especially because the ground was already partially saturated earlier in the day. Residents are being asked to follow weather alerts and updates as the system continues into the evening.
