A 20yearold man has been charged with seconddegree murder in the 2023 killing of security guard Michael Ferdinand at Pickering Casino Resort, Durham police said.
Police said Ferdinand was found with gunshot wounds just after 5 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2023, and later died in hospital. Investigators had previously identified a suspect and sought a Canadawide arrest warrant.
Durham police said the accused was arrested earlier this month in Saskatoon after an investigation involving multiple jurisdictions. He was taken into custody on Wednesday and is said to have no fixed address, though police believe he has ties to Toronto's Jane and Finch area.
