The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Andy O’Brien as vicepresident of sport performance, the team announced Monday.
O’Brien will lead areas including strength and conditioning, sport science, nutrition, injury rehabilitation and mental performance. He previously worked with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2015 to 2021 and has been a highperformance consultant with the Florida Panthers since 2021.
The Charlottetown native has also worked with Sidney Crosby and spent earlier years with the Panthers as a strength and conditioning coach. Maple Leafs general manager John Chayka said the hire fits the organization’s focus on player care and performance after a season in which Toronto finished 323614 and missed the playoffs.
