B.C. wildfires close two major highways linking the Lower Mainland and Interior

Wildfires in British Columbia have forced the closure of two major highways that connect the Lower Mainland and the Interior, disrupting travel across the province. A new fire south of Boston Bar led to the shutdown of Highway 1 and prompted officials to urge people in the area to evacuate immediately. The surrounding communities are now threatened on multiple sides as the fire spreads. Officials also said Highway 3 is closed at Manning Park, leaving Highway 5 as the only remaining route between the Lower Mainland and the Interior. In eastern B.C., crews are also sending more resources to help fight fires near Kimberley, where one blaze has put the entire community on evacuation alert.
