First trilateral CUSMA review meeting set for July 1

Canadian, Mexican and American officials are set to hold their first trilateral meeting on July 1 as part of the review of the CanadaU.S.Mexico Agreement, according to Mexico's economy secretary, Marcelo Ebrard. Ebrard said the virtual meeting will allow each country to present its position on the future of the trade deal. The talks come as officials from the three countries have mostly been meeting separately in recent weeks ahead of the agreement's scheduled review this summer. The meeting follows renewed criticism of CUSMA by U.S. President Donald Trump, who has questioned the deal's future. Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada remains focused on working through specific trade issues, and Canadian and Mexican officials have both said they want to extend the agreement.
