WestJet workers have suspended their strike after the airline and the Canadian Union of Public Employees reached a tentative deal early Monday. Despite the agreement, Vancouver International Airport warned that some travellers may still face disruption while operations return to normal.
YVR said 21 WestJet flights out of Vancouver were scheduled to operate on Monday, while 49 remained cancelled. The airport added that WestJet Encore flights were not affected.
The strike began Sunday as flight attendants pushed for pay changes covering work done on the ground, such as helping passengers and waiting for delayed departures. The tentative agreement still needs to be ratified by CUPE members before it takes effect.
