A Calgary man has been arrested and charged after police allege he posted a death threat against Prime Minister Mark Carney on YouTube.
RCMP say their National Security Enforcement Team received information in July about the account, and court records place the alleged offence between July 25 and July 26, 2026.
The accused, 31yearold Jamie Dacosta, appeared in Calgary court on Tuesday while being held at the Calgary Remand Centre. He also faces several unrelated charges tied to allegations involving an automotive business, including extortion, multiple counts of uttering threats and wearing a disguise with intent. His defence lawyer said he was denied bail last week and asked for the case to return Friday.
