Bonnie Crombie plans Mississauga mayoral comeback bid

Former Ontario Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie is preparing to run for mayor of Mississauga again, two years after stepping down from the role. Crombie told supporters she will officially register as a candidate at Mississauga’s civic centre on Tuesday morning. She left the mayor’s office at the start of 2024 after winning the 2022 election so she could lead the Ontario Liberal Party. After leading the party in the 2025 provincial election, where the Liberals finished third, Crombie resigned as leader following a weak show of support in a review. Since then, she has remained active in Mississauga and has been considering a return to municipal politics. Current mayor Carolyn Parrish is also seeking reelection. Other registered candidates include councillors Dipika Damerla and Alvin Tedjo.
