The FBI says battlefieldstyle drone attacks seen overseas could eventually happen in the United States, as officials assess how quickly drone technology is evolving.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, FBI Deputy Director Chris Raia said the agency is especially concerned about smaller, loneactor threats using increasingly capable commercial drones. He said future systems connected through 5G or LTE networks could be harder to detect and disrupt than the shortrange drones commonly used today.
Raia pointed to lessons from conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, where inexpensive drones have been used for surveillance and attacks. He also said federal investigators are watching dronerelated threats around major events, including the FIFA World Cup, and urged the public to report suspicious activity.
