Greece adds first MiCA crypto providers as regulator rejects Binance claim
Greece joins the EU MiCA crypto register as four providers appear for the first time See which firms were listed and why Binance’s withdrawn bid still matters
Greece has entered the European Union’s MiCA crypto register for the first time, after four providers from the country were added to the list this week. The update also included six additional firms from Germany, France and Slovenia, bringing the total number of registered providers to 359.
The Greek names on the register are BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, Capital Wallet Greece and Piraeus Bank. According to the listing, the Hellenic Capital Market Commission is the main authority for three of them, while the Bank of Greece oversees Piraeus Bank, reflecting how the country has split MiCA supervision between regulators.
The article also revisits Binance’s withdrawn MiCA application in Greece. The exchange had applied for authorization that would have allowed it to operate across the EU under MiCA passporting rules, but later pulled the request before a formal decision was issued. Greece’s watchdog, HCMC, said it did not make the remarks attributed to its officials in a separate report and denied any communication with ECB President Christine Lagarde or Greek government officials about the matter.
