Toronto police seize 15 firearms in trafficking investigation
Toronto gun trafficking probe leads to 3 charges and 15 firearms seized Police say undercover work exposed an alleged supply network; see what was found
Toronto police say three people have been charged and 15 firearms seized after a monthslong investigation into alleged gun trafficking in the city.
Police said the case, called Project Playfight, began in February after they received information about someone selling guns through an online platform. Investigators then used an undercover operation to communicate with the suspect and identify others involved in the alleged network.
According to police, the weapons were traced to a domestic source linked to a registered firearms owner who was allegedly supplying the guns. Search warrants were executed on July 29 in Toronto and Markham, leading to the arrests. Officers also seized about 1,000 rounds of ammunition, overcapacity magazines, an auto sear, more than $7,000, and a 2.5gram gold bar.
