OpenAI Academy marks two years with expanded training plans

OpenAI Academy expands AI training for work, teaching, and small business teams New trainer tools help communities host workshops and build local AI skills fast

OpenAI says its Academy has spent the past two years helping people build practical AI skills for everyday work, from teaching and small business tasks to software development. Since launching in September 2024, the program has hosted more than 250 events and reached over 4 million people through its content. The company is now expanding the initiative with a new trainer program that will help people and organizations teach Academy material in their own communities. The effort is meant to bring training and support closer to where people live and work. OpenAI said the Academy has grown from selfpaced courses and guides into inperson workshops and large events, including AI Skills Jams. It is also working with community partners and piloting a trainer program to help schools, workforce groups, smallbusiness networks, and other local organizations build their own AI training capacity.
