OpenAI says ChatGPT health responses have improved
ChatGPT health answers are getting better with GPT-5.5 Instant and safer guidance See how OpenAI improved urgency checks, clarity, and factual accuracy
OpenAI says ChatGPT is getting better at answering health and wellness questions, with GPT5.5 Instant showing stronger performance on healthrelated evaluations. The company says the model is better at recognizing when urgent care may be needed, asking for more context, explaining uncertainty, and simplifying complex medical information.
According to OpenAI, the improvements are based on physicianled evaluations and feedback from a global network of more than 260 doctors across 60 countries, 49 languages, and 26 specialties. The company says these physicians have reviewed more than 700,000 example responses to help define what accurate, clear, and safe health guidance should look like.
OpenAI also said that, across recent production traffic, the share of health responses with at least one flagged factuality issue has fallen by 71% over the past two months. The company says these changes are meant to make ChatGPT more useful for everyday health questions and more reliable in situations where users may need care.
