Severe thunderstorm watch issued for several regions in Quebec
Quebec severe thunderstorm watch as storms threaten wind, hail and tornado risk Stay alert with updates on heat warnings, outages and safety steps across the province
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for multiple regions across Quebec as of Wednesday morning. The agency said conditions could support storms capable of strong wind gusts, hail, heavy rain and, in some areas, a tornado.
The alert covers many communities across the province, including Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, Sherbrooke and several regions in the Gaspé, Saguenay, Mauricie and Montérégie areas. The watch is the lowest level on Environment Canada's threetier warning scale.
Officials are advising people to take shelter if storms move in and to prepare for possible power outages. Many parts of Quebec are also under a heat warning until Thursday, with temperatures expected to reach 33 C in some locations. Residents are being urged to stay hydrated and watch for signs of heat exhaustion, especially among older adults and other vulnerable people.
