IDF says it killed Hezbollah commander linked to 2007 U.S. soldiers’ deaths

The Israel Defense Forces said it killed senior Hezbollah commander Ali Musa Daqduq in a strike in southern Lebanon on Friday. The military said Daqduq was accused of helping plan the 2007 kidnapping and killing of five American soldiers in Iraq. According to the IDF, Daqduq held several senior roles inside Hezbollah over the years, including positions tied to security, operations, infantry, and a network in Syria near Israel’s border. Israel said his death is another blow to Hezbollah’s command structure. The strike came as Israel also conducted attacks in Beirut’s Dahieh district, while U.S.backed efforts continued around a broader regional deal involving Iran. Israeli officials said the military was responding to Hezbollah fire, while a diplomat said the strikes were complicating negotiations.
