Toronto police hold procession for officer killed during investigation

Toronto police held a procession on Sunday for Const. Marc Pinizzotto, who died after being shot during a police investigation in the city’s northwest end on Thursday. The procession began at the Chief Coroner’s office in North York and ended at a funeral home in Thornhill. First responders lined parts of the route as the convoy passed in silence. Police said Pinizzotto, an 18year veteran of the force, was shot while officers were carrying out a search warrant linked to multiple shootings in the Greater Toronto Area, including one involving the U.S. consulate. The province’s Special Investigations Unit is reviewing the shooting, and police say the suspect remains in critical condition.
