Fire at Vancouver's Plaza of Nations under investigation
Plaza of Nations fire investigation in Vancouver after exterior blaze near False Creek See what crews found and how the downtown waterfront fire was quickly contained
Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out on the exterior of Vancouver's Plaza of Nations building on Monday evening.
Smoke from the waterfront structure near False Creek began appearing on social media around 7:40 p.m. PT. Vancouver Fire Rescue Services said crews quickly brought water to the fire and confirmed that no one was inside the building when it started.
Acting assistant fire chief Ryan Cameron said investigators were on scene to determine what caused the blaze. Five heavy apparatuses and an airline support unit responded to the incident, which was visible across the surrounding downtown area.
