OpenAI expands Codex with role-specific plugins, Sites, and annotations

Codex updates expand AI for analysts, marketers, designers, and bankers Use role-specific plugins and Sites to create reports, prototypes, and shareable apps

OpenAI has announced new updates to Codex aimed at a broader range of knowledge work, not just software development. The company says the tool now has more than 5 million weekly users, with analysts, marketers, operators, designers, researchers, investors, and bankers accounting for a growing share of adoption. The new release includes six rolespecific plugins for areas such as data analytics, creative production, sales, product design, public equity investing, and investment banking. These plugins connect Codex to popular workplace apps and data sources so teams can use it to build reports, prepare materials, review deals, and create prototypes without coding. OpenAI is also previewing Sites, a feature that lets users turn ideas, plans, and analyses into interactive webpages and apps that can be shared with a workspace through a URL. In addition, annotations now extend beyond code to documents, spreadsheets, and slides, allowing users to point to specific parts of a draft and request targeted edits.
