Regional officials in British Columbia say water from a glacial lake near Pemberton has begun moving downstream, creating risks for nearby properties and waterways.
The SquamishLillooet Regional District has asked the public to stay away from Place Creek, Poole Creek, Gates Lake and nearby channels because of fastmoving water, debris, erosion and unstable streambanks linked to the lake near Place Glacier.
An evacuation order covering 24 properties remains in effect, and officials say high flows are expected for the next one to two days while technical experts continue to monitor conditions and assess possible damage.
