HSBC AI partnership with Google Cloud expands banking automation and risk tools See how Gemini models may drive 200+ use cases and major efficiency gains

HSBC has expanded its multiyear AI partnership with Google Cloud to develop and deploy artificial intelligence tools across its global banking operations. The agreement, announced at Google Cloud Summit London 2026, covers use cases in wealth management, financial crime risk management, and internal decision support. HSBC will work with teams from Google Cloud and Google DeepMind using Gemini models and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. HSBC said it expects the partnership to support more than 200 AI use cases over the next two years. The bank also said some projects could generate more than US$100 million each through revenue gains or efficiency improvements. HSBC reported that it already has more than 600 AI use cases across the group and that over 600 of its applications run on Google Cloud. The bank has also used AI in financial crime detection, customer support, fraud monitoring, and software development. HSBC said the new work will include faster risk intervention, AIassisted wealth management tools, and more structured support for regulatory processes, while keeping human oversight in place.
