OpenAI Introduces Australian Youth Safety Blueprint

Australian youth AI safety blueprint sets guardrails for teens, privacy, and support Explore OpenAI's teen protections and safer access for young Australians

OpenAI has announced the Australian Youth Safety Blueprint, a policy roadmap focused on safer AI use for young people in Australia. The plan outlines six areas, including AI literacy, ageappropriate safeguards, privacyfocused age assurance, access to crisis support, and parental controls. The company said it is continuing to expand safety features in its products, including ChatGPT for Teens in Australia, which began rolling out in August for users identified as aged 13 to 17. OpenAI said the experience includes updated protections designed for younger users and is built on existing parental controls, under18 safety policies, and age assurance systems. OpenAI described the work as ongoing and said it wants to collaborate with teens, parents, educators, researchers, and policymakers to shape standards that protect young people while preserving access to the benefits of AI.
