Overnight maintenance delays REM opening in Montreal
REM light-rail delay in Montreal disrupts Saturday service after maintenance work See what caused the late start and what passengers should expect Sunday
Montreal’s REM lightrail network opened later than planned on Saturday after overnight maintenance work took longer than expected.
Operator Pulsar said service was supposed to begin at 7:30 a.m., but trains remained out of service until just after 10 a.m. because of work done by an external partner. The company said the maintenance was needed before normal operations could resume.
Pulsar said the partner will review what caused the delay to help avoid similar problems in the future. More scheduled maintenance is expected on Sunday, when service is set to resume at noon and shuttle buses will replace trains until then.
