Six hospitalized after crowded Montreal Jazz Festival concert

Six people were taken to hospital during a free Montreal Jazz Festival concert in downtown Montreal on Saturday night, but organizers and emergency services said the response went as planned. Urgencessanté said crews treated 10 people in total for issues including falls and intoxication. Four people declined transport, while six were sent to an emergency room. Officials said some of those hospitalized were in a more concerning condition, but none were lifethreatening. Festival organizers said they had prepared for the large turnout, added security, and kept the site under control. Access to Place des Festivals was closed before the concert as crowds built around the performance by Saguenay band Angine de Poitrine, which organizers said drew one of the biggest audiences the festival has seen in years.
