Two Virginia residents have filed a federal lawsuit seeking to stop a planned UFC fight card on the White House South Lawn, arguing the event was improperly approved and violates rules governing federal parkland.
The lawsuit, filed by the Public Integrity Project, says the June 14 mixed martial arts show tied to President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and the nation’s 250th anniversary should not go ahead because it lacked required approvals and environmental review. It also challenges the construction of a large arch and other structures near the event area.
The White House rejected the case as baseless, saying the event is similar to other permitted gatherings held on the South Lawn and nearby public spaces. UFC has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
