Santé Québec sued over alleged software copy
Quebec City software lawsuit alleges Santé Québec copied patient booking platform Petal seeks up to $175M and an injunction—see what the court filing says
A Quebec City software company is suing Santé Québec, alleging the public health agency copied its scheduling platform in violation of a confidentiality agreement.
Solutions Petal Inc. says it first provided the patientbooking software, called L'Orchestrateur, to Santé Québec in 2010. In court filings, the company claims the agency later used a bidding process to create software that replicated Petal's system and exposed proprietary information.
Petal is seeking between $125 million and $175 million in damages and wants a court order stopping the use of Santé Québec's current software. Santé Québec says it acknowledges the lawsuit but will not comment because the case is before the courts.
