Toronto police say a man died Thursday after an industrial accident at the RioCan Empress Walk Plaza in North York.
Officers were called to the shopping centre near Yonge Street and Empress Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. after reports of an incident involving an escalator. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police evacuated the plaza and closed it while investigators looked into the incident. Ontario’s Ministry of Labour has been notified.
