The National Marine Forecasting Center issues a red wave warning and orange storm surge alert for Typhoon "Bavi"

The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center continued to issue marine disaster warnings on the 10th for Typhoon No. 9 this year, "Bavi." Affected by the typhoon, the risk of high waves and storm surges has increased in the coastal waters of Zhejiang, Fujian, and other areas, and the relevant regions have raised their emergency response levels. According to the forecast, from the afternoon of the 10th to the afternoon of the 11th, a significant highwave event will occur in the southern East China Sea, the northern East China Sea, and the Taiwan Strait. Among them, the wave warning level in the nearshore waters of northern Zhejiang and Fujian will be red, in the nearshore waters of Shanghai it will be orange, and in the nearshore waters of southern Fujian and southern Jiangsu it will be yellow and blue, respectively. The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center reminded that vessels operating in the affected waters should pay attention to safety, and coastal units need to make advance preparations for wave protection and wave avoidance. As for storm surges, from the night of the 10th to the evening of the 11th, varying degrees of stormrelated sea level rise may occur along the coast from Nantong, Jiangsu to Ningbo, Zhejiang, as well as from Taizhou to Wenzhou in Zhejiang and along the Fujian coast. Wenzhou has issued an orange warning, Fuzhou a yellow warning, and Zhoushan, Ningbo, Taizhou, and Ningde are under blue warnings. The forecast also pointed out that lowlying areas in southern Zhejiang and northern Fujian face a risk of seawater backflow and flooding on the night of the 11th. Relevant departments have been instructed to organize vessels to return to port for shelter from the wind, reinforce coastal facilities, and promptly evacuate people from dangerous areas.
