Special Exhibition of Hellenistic Gold Art Opens in Xi'an

"Civilization in Restraint — Gold Art of the Hellenistic Period" special exhibition opened on June 14 at the Shaanxi History Museum. The exhibition brings together 250 gold and pottery items (sets) from 25 museums and archaeological institutions in Greece, showcasing the development of gold art during the Hellenistic period. The exhibition is organized into four sections: "Honoring the Gods: Divine Blessings and Royal Authority," "Ceremonial Life: Weddings and Funerals," "Treasuring the Myriad Aspects: Hidden Collections and Legacy," and "Integrating Craftsmanship: Style and Technique." Centered on themes such as royal belief, social trends, life rituals, craftsmanship, and trade exchanges, it presents a picture of civilizational fusion from 323 BC to 30 BC. The organizers said the exhibition not only focuses on the forms of cultural relics, but also emphasizes the craftsmanship of gold jewelry making and the cultural significance behind it. Through a more intuitive presentation of details, it helps visitors understand ancient metalworking techniques and the aesthetic characteristics of the Hellenistic era.
