Check out the key issues and reactions.
As the approval rating of the Lee Jaemyung administration continues to decline, internal conflict within the Democratic Party is coming to the surface publicly. On the 14th, Democratic Party leader Kim Minseok said on a YouTube broadcast that the party's internal criticism was similar to the signs preceding the impeachment situation of former President Roh Moohyun, emphasizing that it is a time for the party to unite.
Kim said that, as President Lee Jaemyung marks his first year in office, the ruling bloc should come together, and expressed concern over the continued criticism from inside and outside the party. This is interpreted as a response to some figures, including Gyeonggi Governor Choo Miae, publicly criticizing the president's appointments and state affairs management.
Within the party, the decline in approval ratings is being attributed to housing policy, controversy over the Cabinet reshuffle, and internal conflicts accumulated after the party convention. The Rebuilding Korea Party criticized Kim's remarks, saying they do not help President Lee Jaemyung, and voices within the Democratic Party also called for restoring trust and preventing supporters from drifting away.
