The Uiseong branch of the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office has indicted without detention a senior Gyeongbuk police officer, Officer A, on charges of falsely preparing documents as if he had tracked down and arrested a hitandrun death suspect who had voluntarily appeared. According to the prosecutors, Officer A is accused of recording the time, place, and circumstances of the arrest during the emergency arrest of Mr. B, who had come to the police substation on his own and been questioned on May 22, as if he had been chased down and caught at the scene, contrary to the facts. Mr. B had left the scene after causing a traffic accident while under the influence of alcohol, and the victim was later found dead. The prosecutors concluded that the requirements for an emergency arrest had not been met, investigated the relevant records and circumstances of the police officers, took over the case, and indicted Officer A. On the same day, Mr. B was also indicted without detention on charges related to the hitandrun death accident.
