On July 31, the Ministry of National Defense of China held a reception at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Defense Minister Dong Jun attended and delivered a speech, extending holiday greetings to officers and soldiers of the People's Liberation Army, personnel of the People's Armed Police, military civilian personnel, reservists, militia members, and related groups, and welcoming guests including foreign military attachés in China and representatives of international organizations. In his speech, Dong Jun reviewed important milestones such as the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March, saying that the people's army will continue to uphold the Party's leadership, thoroughly implement the thought on strengthening the military, advance national defense and military modernization, enhance the level of combat capability development, and maintain close ties with the people. He said that the Chinese military will continue to fulfill its duty of safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, firmly oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and foreign interference, and at the same time work with all parties to uphold regional peace and stability and respond to global security challenges.
