The Grand Egyptian Museum will officially open on November 1, 2025. It is located on the Giza Plateau in Egypt, about 2 kilometers from the Giza pyramid area. Covering an area of about 500,000 square meters, the museum houses more than 100,000 artifacts and showcases Egypt’s precious heritage from prehistoric times to the Roman period, making it the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization.
According to reports, the museum took more than 20 years to complete and was affected during that time by political instability, funding shortages, the pandemic, and regional conflicts. Egyptian President Sisi once described it as Egypt’s “gift to the whole world.”
One of the most attentiongrabbing exhibits in the museum is the 5,992 burial objects of Tutankhamun, displayed together in full for the first time. Another important exhibit is the giant statue of Ramesses II, which is nearly 12 meters tall and weighs more than 80 tons. In addition, there are representative artifacts such as the Khufu solar boat, dating back about 4,500 years. The museum building faces the three pyramids, allowing visitors to take in views of the pyramids while viewing the artifacts.
