The KBO has canceled all KBO League and Futures League games for two days, from the 5th to the 6th, in response to the nationwide heat wave. The league decided to review its heatwave response measures, taking the safety of players and spectators into consideration.
On the 4th, the KBO announced detailed game operations rules for each heatwave stage, but as the heatwave continued, it determined that stronger measures were needed. The rules also include a provision allowing games to be canceled even before 1:00 p.m. if the Meteorological Administration's highestlevel Severe Heat Warning goes into effect.
The day before, the DoosanNC game at Jamsil and the KIAKT game in Gwangju were canceled due to the heatwave, and at today's SSGLG game in Incheon, a spectator collapsed with symptoms of heatrelated illness, causing the game to be suspended. The number of games canceled this year due to the heatwave has risen to 15, and the total number of canceled games, including rainouts, stands at 40.
