As the MidAutumn Festival approaches, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, presented lanterns to reporters from both sides of the Taiwan Strait after the regular press conference held in Beijing on September 16, conveying wishes for reunion and emphasizing that the lanterns symbolize compatriots on both sides of the strait sharing the same root and origin, with blood ties linking them together. Zhu Fenglian said that the two lanterns on display were respectively based on an awardwinning work from a lantern design competition in which young people from Taiwan participated, and a creation inspired by the painting "Tangshan Crossing to Taiwan," reflecting historical ties across the strait and folk cultural exchanges. She also mentioned that many other MidAutumn Festival activities for compatriots on both sides of the strait are being held in various places recently. During the Q&A session that day, Zhu Fenglian also introduced the historical costume microshort drama "Jiaqing Jun Visits Taiwan" launched by authorities in Beijing, saying that the series incorporates Taiwanese folk legends and glovepuppet opera elements, and features Taiwanese actors as well as Minnanlanguage dubbing. She said she hopes to see more film and television works jointly produced by businesses from both sides of the strait in the future, and mentioned the Taiwanese drama "The Next Episode of Fairy Tales," recently broadcast by Southeast TV.
