Beijing launches the international communication campaign “New Era · Discover China”

China in the New Era: showcasing the real picture of high-quality development through cross-cultural exchange The international communication campaign visits multiple places to experience ecological governance, cultural-tourism integration, and China’s practices

On May 6, the largescale international communication event “New Era · Discover China” was launched in Beijing. The event aims to showcase to international audiences the real picture of China’s highquality development in the new era through crosscultural exchange. More than 150 guests attended, including Xia Zehan, Director of the UNESCO Office in East Asia, as well as diplomatic envoys to China from multiple countries and media representatives. At the event, the News and Information Center of Xinhua News Agency and UNESCO signed a letter of intent for cooperation. The two sides will strengthen cooperation in areas such as knowledge dissemination and the protection of river civilizations. Representatives from Nanjing and Harbin also shared local practices. Nanjing presented examples of combining ecological governance with urban development, while Harbin introduced experience in integrating iceandsnow culture and tourism with the city’s distinctive features. According to the introduction, the event will invite about 2,000 visits by international opinion leaders from May to December to tour more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country, as well as more than 40 cities, and continue indepth visits and exchanges.
