Our country sees multiple technological and engineering breakthroughs across many fields
Highlights in China's scientific and technological innovation progress keep emerging, with energy, transportation, and biotechnology advancing in step See direct supply of green electricity in the west, nuclear power commissioning, and breakthroughs in high-end manufacturing, and feel the hard-core strength
This week, new progress was reported in a number of fields in our country, including energy, transportation, and biotechnology, demonstrating steadily strengthening capabilities in scientific and technological innovation.
In the energy sector, the 500,000kilowatt photovoltaic power station of China Datang Zhongwei Cloud Base was officially put into operation, becoming the country’s first largescale "computingpower and electricity coordination" green electricity directsupply project, promoting the direct connection between clean power in western China and digital computing power. In Zhejiang’s Songyang pumpedstorage power station, two vertical shafts, each over 600 meters deep, were fully connected, setting a new national record for the deepest shaft project in the pumpedstorage field.
In nuclear power and grid construction, Unit 3 of the second phase of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant has begun hot functional testing with nuclear fuel for the first time, and the 750kV transmission and transformation project around the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang has also completed its first liveline work since being put into operation. In the transportation manufacturing sector, the world’s first dualfuel car carrier with a capacity of 10,000 vehicles was delivered in Nansha, Guangzhou, reflecting new progress in China’s highend shipbuilding. In biotechnology, a scientific research team in Tibet has, for the first time, successfully achieved the batch cloning and normal delivery of 10 yaks, marking phased progress in related technologies.
