The Ministry of Civil Affairs Announces 9 Typical Cases of Illegal Social Organizations

On July 14, the Ministry of Civil Affairs announced nine typical cases of illegal social organizations, reminding the public to verify an organization's identity through the "China Social Organization Government Services Platform" and the government WeChat account "China Social Organizations Updates" before participating in related activities or carrying out cooperation, and to promptly report any leads to the local civil affairs department when found. The notice shows that these cases mostly involved organizations that had not been registered and had conducted activities without authorization under the names of social associations or private nonenterprise units. Some organizations also set up positions, formulated bylaws, held events, and issued certificates, which can easily mislead the public and disrupt the order of social organization registration and management. The Ministry of Civil Affairs said that the relevant local civil affairs departments have already taken measures in accordance with the law, such as shutting down the organizations, ordering them to disband, or revoking name approvals, and have required them to eliminate the adverse impact.
