Yuan Qingshan, Former Deputy Director of the Huizhou Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee, Expelled from the Party and Removed from Public Office

On July 10, the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision reported that Yuan Qingshan, former member of the Party Leadership Group and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Huizhou Municipal People's Congress, had been expelled from the Communist Party of China and removed from public office for serious disciplinary violations and illegal conduct. The report said that Yuan Qingshan was found to have violated the spirit of the Central EightPoint Regulations, illegally accepted gifts and money, sought benefits for others and accepted property in connection with the hiring of employees, used his authority to seek benefits for relatives, and sought benefits for others in matters such as project contracting and student enrollment while illegally accepting huge sums of property, among other issues. According to relevant regulations, after deliberation by a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and approval by the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, it was decided to impose on Yuan Qingshan the disciplinary punishment of expulsion from the Party; the Guangdong Provincial Supervisory Commission gave him the punishment of removal from public office and terminated his status as a delegate to the 12th Huizhou Municipal Party Congress. His illicit gains from disciplinary violations and illegal acts have been confiscated, and the suspected criminal case will be transferred to the procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution in accordance with the law, with the relevant assets transferred together.
