Failed to Secure Ballot Boxes at Jamsil Polling Station... Court Carries Out On-Site Inspection

The court conducted an onsite inspection at the No. 2 polling place in Jamsil 7dong, Songpagu, Seoul, where voting had been suspended due to a shortage of ballot papers during the June 3 local elections, but it was unable to find the storage box for the ballot papers, which was the subject of evidence preservation. On the afternoon of the 10th, the Seoul Eastern District Court visited the senior center at Woosung Apartment, which had been used as the polling place, and tried to check the box, packaging materials, CCTV footage, and chat logs from group chat rooms. However, since the site had already been cleared, the investigation ended in about 30 minutes. The court previously partially accepted the application filed by Kim Cheoljeong, a Supreme Council member of the Reform Party, and decided to preserve the relevant evidence. The bench stated that if the location of the box and other items is confirmed later, it can conduct another inspection. Meanwhile, the protest blocking the Olympic Park counting center continued for the sixth day, and the Korea Sports Council and resident organizations said that access to the stadium has been blocked, causing major disruptions to their work.
