The Sultan of Brunei meets Dong Jun, both sides emphasize deepening defense cooperation

On July 28, Sultan Hassanal of Brunei met with visiting Chinese Minister of National Defense Dong Jun in Bandar Seri Begawan. The two sides exchanged views on topics including ChinaBrunei relations, defense cooperation, and regional security.
Hassanal said that the relationship between Brunei and China has a solid foundation, that Brunei upholds the One China policy, supports ASEAN centrality, and appreciates China’s support for Brunei’s promotion of its "Brunei Vision 2035." He also said he hopes the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation on regional issues of common concern and welcomes more Chinese naval vessels to visit Brunei.
Dong Jun pointed out that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, bilateral political mutual trust, economic and trade cooperation, peopletopeople exchanges, and multilateral coordination have continued to develop. Dong Jun said that the two sides should seize the current opportunities for cooperation, further raise the level of cooperation in various fields, and strengthen practical cooperation such as maritime security, jointly safeguarding peace and stability in the South China Sea.
