Shark ‘Bukangi,’ who stayed in Busan North Port, has the rescue operation temporarily suspended
Another attempt to rescue Bukangi the shark from Busan North Port Waterfront Park; the plan to release it into the sea has been suspended A different guided rescue method is scheduled for the 2nd of next month, drawing attention to the outcome
An attempt to release the shark ‘Bukangi,’ which had remained in the waterway of Bukhang Waterfront Park in Donggu, Busan, into the sea was carried out on the 29th, but the plan was ultimately called off that day.
The Busan Metropolitan Government, the National Institute of Fisheries Science, and the Coast Guard mobilized boats and pumps to guide Bukangi out of the waterway, but they were unable to achieve success as the shark repeatedly returned to the waterway. The authorities stopped the operation, judging that the low tide period had ended and that there were limits to the current method.
The relevant agencies plan to try rescuing it again in a different way on the 2nd of next month. They are considering blocking the waterway with a large net and then slowly guiding Bukangi toward the sea. The National Institute of Fisheries Science explained that drone checks showed Bukangi's activity and breathing were stable, but its movements had become somewhat slower, suggesting that its stamina had declined.
