On July 6, Tibet announced in Lhasa the achievements in agricultural and rural development during the 14th FiveYear Plan period. Over the past five years, Tibet has advanced a range of work centered on rural revitalization and improvements to people’s livelihoods, with significant progress made in agricultural and animal husbandry production, farmers’ and herders’ income, and rural development. Data shows that Tibet has continuously consolidated the achievements of poverty alleviation, and work such as medical assistance, preventing school dropouts, and renovating dilapidated rural housing has progressed steadily. The income of people lifted out of poverty has continued to grow, the annual growth rate of per capita disposable income among rural residents has ranked among the highest in the country, and the urbanrural income gap has further narrowed. In terms of industry, Tibet has steadily advanced the construction of highstandard farmland, specialty industrial clusters, and modern agricultural industrial parks. Output of grain, meat, eggs, milk, and vegetables has reached record highs, the number of green organic agricultural product certifications has increased, and the rural living environment and grassroots governance have also improved in tandem. Officials said that the next step will continue to focus on food security, increasing income for farmers and herders, and rural modernization.
