Wang Yi Meets with a Delegation from the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs

On July 21, 2026, Wang Yi, a Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in Beijing with an interparty delegation of lawmakers led by McAllister, Chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs. Wang Yi said that this was the first time the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs had sent a delegation to visit China, reflecting both sides' willingness to strengthen communication. He briefed them on China's development achievements and pointed out that China and Europe should uphold the positioning of their partnership, avoid politicizing economic and trade issues and oversecuritizing normal exchanges, and promote the longterm, stable development of bilateral relations. The European side said it attaches importance to relations with China, opposes “decoupling” from China, and is willing to strengthen exchanges and dialogue with the Chinese side, enhance mutual understanding, and advance cooperation in areas such as green development and addressing climate change. The two sides also exchanged views on issues including trade imbalance, the Ukraine crisis, human rights, and artificial intelligence.
