Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs inspects reservoirs and landslide-vulnerable facilities ahead of weekend heavy rain

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held an emergency inspection meeting on the 17th to prepare for the heavy rain forecast during the Liberation Day holiday and the weekend, and reviewed the response situation to agricultural disasters.
The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that on the 18th and 19th, 100 to 200 mm of rain would fall in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province, 80 to 150 mm in the Chungcheong region, 50 to 100 mm in the Gyeongsang region, and 30 to 80 mm in the Jeolla region. Some areas were expected to receive even more precipitation than this.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is inspecting cracks and leaks in reservoirs, the operating status of drainage pumps, windbreak nets and drainage channels at horticultural facilities, drainage channels around livestock facilities, and whether there are any rockfalls or collapses in landslideprone areas, together with the Korea Forest Service, the Rural Development Administration, the Korea Rural Community Corporation, Nonghyup, and local governments. It has also established an emergency contact network with farms near mountainous areas and provided evacuation locations in advance.
