According to Chinese media reports, Samsung Electronics was said to have been pushing a plan to raise DRAM contract prices by about 20% starting from the third quarter of this year.
According to the reports, Samsung Electronics reportedly held discussions last month with some customers in China regarding the price increase and had also completed verbal notification. However, Samsung Electronics has not yet issued an official position on this.
Market research firms believe that DRAM supply shortages will continue in the third quarter as well, making it likely that contract prices will rise. TrendForce forecast that DRAM prices in the third quarter could increase by 1318% compared with the second quarter, and it also projected that NAND flash prices would rise by 1015% over the same period.
