The Kunming Dialogue focused on the progress of implementing the biodiversity framework, advancing the accelerated realization of the 2030 goals A co-chairs' summary report was released to support the global review and serve as a reference for the COP17 midterm review

Kunming, September 9 — The Kunming Dialogue on the global review of progress in implementing the "KunmingMontreal Global Biodiversity Framework" concluded on the same day, and a joint chairs' summary report was released, providing a reference for the midterm global review at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Armenia in October. This framework is a roadmap developed by the parties to address biodiversity loss and to reverse the trend by 2030. The report noted that 172 parties have already set national targets aligned with the framework, and 107 parties have updated their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans. From September 7 to 9, representatives from the parties, Indigenous and local communities, women and youth, as well as experts and other stakeholders, held discussions in Kunming on gaps and challenges in implementation. The summary report pointed out that from now until 2030, priority should be given to addressing implementation shortcomings, especially accelerating progress on targets that are moving more slowly, and strengthening implementation safeguards, data support, and crosssector coordination.
